I'm a newly minted hospitalist Physician Assistant practicing in a fairly high volume hospital. A large percentage of my work centers around admitting patients from the ER and putting in their initial orders. This book is a life saver! I literally use it everyday!! Great investment to help make sure you don't miss any pertinent labs or give IV fluids unnecessarily. Great book!
This book has been a lifesaver for me as a new hospitalist physician assistant that a local hospital. He does a great job of making you think about things you may have missed for the major diagnosis and conditions that you would admit patients for. infectious disease however doesn't agree all the time with the antibiotic regimen that the book recommends, but overall it is still a great book and a must-own for anyone who works in the hospital setting.
Best book for new hospitalist. My notes practically write themselves.
One of my residents pointed out this little beauty. Completely changes the way you write notes and provides an instant checklist of things that need to be addressed in the top 1000 patient complaints. Starts with pertinent Questions that need to be asked, examination findings, lab studies and then goes on to basic management plans. Whilst it may seem that 2006 is outdated, because it really covers all bases I find that it is more than enough for medical students, and from what my resident said, interns too.
I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!! I would NOT have survived call days or working nights during my Intern year without this book. I APPROVE 1,000 times!!!!! Just trust me.
This is actually a pocket sized book. It may be just fine, but disappointed with size as I had expected something a bit more substantial.
This is a fantastic resource for all medical students and first year residents. Although some of the information (less than 5-10%) is outdated, I would still highly recommended. 5 stars!
