When It’s Right was the third book in Victoria Denault’s San Francisco Thunder series. I’m a huge Denault fan and this book only increased my love.Sadie Braddock was the younger middle sister to Jude, Score, book one. She was also an ER nurse and the rock of her family during her father’s illness with ALS.Griffin Sullivan was the NHL Thunder’s Goalie Coach. He was also a single father in the middle of a custody battle with his ex-wife.Sadie and Griffin met when the Thunder’s goalie was taken to the ER after being knocked out in a game. Sparks were ignited immediately but both had major personal issues that made their timing off for a solid relationship. Denault took us through their development as well as detailed their personal baggage. It was well written, well developed and told from a dual POV. It also had an abundance of humor mixed in with the emotional plot.Al in all, it was a quick, entertaining, emotional, humorous and enjoyable read. I loved all of the characters - both primary and secondary- and I can’t wait to read Winnie’s story next in Now or Never.

I have been a fan of Victoria Denault since her book one more shot. Each book gets better and better. I never thought I'd find one of her heros I'd like more than Devin Garrison well she did it with Griffin! From the beginning you could tell the chemistry between Sadie and Griffin. Both had some major issues they were dealing with and weren't quite sure how to navigate a new relationship. This book had me in tears so many times. All of the real life issues came into play Much heavier than the hometown series. This book completely broke my heart and then put it back together. When Sadie fell apart finally (which she needed to) I also fell apart. Victoria Denault does such an amazing job at making her character oh so relatable!I can't wait to see what's next.

I’m reading this series backwards, and I’m not even mad about it. I really adore the Braddock family. There’s so much strength and caring. Honestly, these books are just so heartwarming. Plus, there are sexy hockey players, so you know I’m all in. The ups and the downs that Sadie and Griffin are going through are just so real, and just add to their combined journey. This one definitely hits ya in the feels!

This was my first experience with reading a contemporary romance by this author and I was highly impressed with the storyline and the writing. This story had all of the important elements I enjoy in romance reading from good romance to wonderful characters. This was definitely a five-star book and an author I will be reading more from in the future.

- Sexy Dad Griffin Sullivan is delicious and sweet and sexy and how do you say no to him? You don't.

When I found out that Sadie and Winnie (the other two members of "the sorority") were getting their own books, I could not wait to get my hands on them! Victoria Denault did not disappoint and I loved Sadie and Griffin’s emotional and heartfelt romance! Though this is book 3 in the San Francisco Thunder series, it can be read as a stand alone. I do highly recommend Score and Slammed, however, since they're amazing and because the characters from these books do appear in When It's Right.I loved how honest Sadie and Griffin's story was. Yes, there is instalust right from the start, but the reality of their lives and the struggles they face are very realistic and significant. This book isn't just a love story between a man and woman. It's also a love story between parents and children, siblings, spouses, and friends. It's a story about timing and the joys and cruelty it can deliver. I think this is the most emotional and poignant book I have read by the author. Her heartbreaking and truthful portrayal of loss, grief, and mortality had me an emotional mess at times, but she balanced it so well with the sweet, sexy, and wonder of new love. Griffin was a fantastic hero and had me swooning and grinning like a fool! Unicorn indeed! ;)It's no secret that I love the Braddock family, and honestly, I fall more in love with them after every book. I see pieces of my own family and childhood in them, but also things I strive for with my own children and husband. One of the best parts is the banter between the siblings, especially between Jude and Sadie. Those moments of levity kept the book from getting too heavy and had me laughing out loud. The Braddock's are definitely one of my favorite fictional families. I also loved the appearances by Jude, Zoey, Dixie, and Eli. That epilogue had me shrieking for my favorite goalie and his lady love! I honestly cannot wait to see how Winnie's story unfolds, but I also know there will be tears, as the Braddock's prepare for a final goodbye.4.5 stars*I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book*

Insightful study of Documentary films. It is a hort introduction but quite useful in clarifying the varieties of Docu films. The author demonstrates a clear history of the beginnings of these films after WW I and takes us to the present uses of the films often distinguishing between informative films and propaganda. A useful introduction.

I'm constantly looking for new ways to expand my portfolio and directing a documentary film is definitely a project I'm considering. This book has been a great introduction to the goals/execution of making a documentary.

I nice small concise book, it was required reading for a class, so I had no choice. It's ok, it wasn't expensive, and it's ok.

I read the whole book in 2 sittings. Very well written and organized. A good read for documentary film lovers. Especially beginners.

I really like the way that he outlines documentary film types, but I think that certain examples could use a lot more description.

Aufderheide's small book is packed with information, but so beautifully organized you can actually find what you're looking for. Tight, cogent prose makes it both an excellent history of, and an inviting introduction to documentary film. And once you've read it, you have a nifty little handbook!

Short.Sweet.Easy to comprehend.Doesn't give you a complete visual, but manages to give you a taste of docs.

Patricia's short introduction is a great little book because the she hits all the biggies (film makers, modes, etc) of documentary film without the higher level conceptual stuff that makes Bill Nichols' book a hard read for my undergraduates. That is the good bit. On the down side, she cites a lot of non US films that are hard to get; that makes it less useful for small programs that don't have such an extensive film library. I will order this book again next time around. One thing is certain: The price is right!

The pretentious, subjective and verbose essays so typical of museum/exhibit books rated a knock down to 4 stars for me....also there is little real historical information on each doll....a title, size/dimension, and brief (very brief) comment...really nothing noteworthy or historical. If it wasn't for the outstanding large color photo plates of each doll I would have returned the book. If you make dolls, want to study them close up, get ideas or inspiration then the book is worth having in your library collection, the value being in the well photographed dolls and not much more. The book "American Folk Dolls" by Wendy Lavitt is a far better book from a historical point of view with good color photos, variety of dolls, including black dolls..and a substantial bibliography for further reference, research and study.

This is a beautiful book and the amazing array of difficult to find dolls are photographed so lovingly. The dolls look so real I wanted to pick them up! You can feel the texture of the fabric and stuffing. The accompanying essays provide excellent context, and the photographs of children of the time periods covered holding their similar dolls are priceless. If you have even a passing interest in cloth dolls this is a treat. And if, like me, you collect handmade cloth dolls of varying ethnicities, it is a wonderful addition to the collection.

The book is a fantastic study of ethnic dolls for scholars and casual readers alike. It is lavishly illustrated with terrific detail. It will be a wonderful research tool for our museum.

I bought the book on an instinct that it would be a great book … and it is. The book is a big one, so the photographs of the dolls are beautiful,and abundant. I am an artist … I bought the book to have the images as inspiration and reference … it's truly one of my favorite books now.

Wonderful beautifully well done book. I was surprised that it was hard back and a pretty large book. Vintage antique Black cloth dolls are a passion of mine. Each are one of a kind and are a work of art and museum worthy. I also loved the old photos of Black and White children with their dolls . Which l also collect!

Saw this at MOMA and was completely wowed. These dolls were made by people who would have been artists if they had lived lives that allowed for it. The layout is beautiful and dramatic.

Electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD), when employed as an additional characterization technique to a scanning electron microscope (SEM), enables individual grain orientations, local texture, point-to-point orientation correlations, and phase identification and distributions to be determined routinely on the surfaces of bulk polycrystalline materials.  The application has experienced rapid acceptance in metallurgical, materials, and geophysical laboratories within the past decade due to the wide availability of SEMs, the ease of sample preparation from the bulk, the high speed of data acquisition, and the access to complimentary information about the microstructure on a submicron scale. This entirely new second edition describes the complete EBSD technique, from the experimental set-up, representations of textures, and dynamical simulation, to energy-filtered, spherical, and 3-D EBSD, to phase identification, in situ experiments, strain mapping, and grain boundary networks, to the design and modeling of materials microstructures.  Numerous application examples including the analysis of deformation microstructure, dynamic deformation and damage, and EBSD studies in the earth sciences provide details of this powerful materials characterization technique.

About the Author

Adam J. Schwartz is the Deputy Division Leader for Condensed Matter and High Pressure Physics in the Physics and Advanced Technologies Directorate. Dr. Schwartz joined LLNL as a post-doctoral research associate to investigate the systematics of displacive phase transformations after receiving his PhD from the University of Pittsburgh in 1991. His areas of interests focus on structure-propoerty-processing relations, aging and phase transformations in actinides; influence of microstructure and impurities on high-strain rate deformation behavior, texture and texture gradients in materials, intercrystalline defects and the role of grain boundary character distribution in materials, conventional and high resolution transmission electron microscopy, and electron backscatter diffraction. Dr. Schwartz has authored over 50 publications and has one patent. Mukul Kumar joined as a staff scientist in the Materials Science and Technology Division in 1998 after completing a stint as a post-doctoral fellow at Johns Hopkins University. Prior to that, he received his PhD from the University of Cincinnati, where he was an Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Engineering Fellow and also received the ASM International Arthur Focke Award for his dissertation work. His areas of interest include the relationship between properties and microstructures, particularly as related to extreme environments encountered in turbine jet engine and nuclear reactor environments and high strain rate and pressure conditions; defect analysis using conventional transmission electron microscopy; and electron backscatter diffraction. Kumar has authored over 70 publications and has two patents.
