Whales by Kelsey OseidThis is a good book for kids who are fascinated by the ocean and whales, and a must for school libraries. Teachers can assign research papers and know their kids will be learning from a kid-friendly book, both from the illustrations and the way the facts are presented. The author/illustrator is careful to keep paragraphs short and concise, she labels animal parts, and her illustrations dominate the pages. Unless kids watch nature shows, they may not be aware of the diverse ways that whales eat, nor that humpback whales work as a team and blow bubbles, creating bubble netting to confuse and surround small fish. Quite clever.Author Oseid has a list of her reference sources at the end, and consulted Maureen Flannery at the California Academy of Sciences. Oseid is concerned about the devastation of many species, and includes a page showing multiple ways on “How to Help Whales.”

This book is amazing. It is a great resource. Each page is a work of art. I bought this for my 3 year old because he loves whales and sharks. This is as the title states is book of whales. It goes through the evolution/ancestry of whales. Current whales, how they’re all distinguished, fun facts and what they eat. It is so fun to look through and informative enough for adults and easy enough to read to a child and still keep their attention. We love that on each page it shows a comparison of the whales to human so we can more fully have what 40 meters is. Overall I would recommend this to anyone who loves the ocean and homeschooling families!

Absolutely beautiful book. Lots of great information for older children/adults, and fun to look through for the youngest ones. Happy to add this to our collection, along with the Author's other book about the stars. Lovely!

The book had many faded pages. the replacement also had the same problem. Very disappointed.

A wonderful addition to my collection of books on whales, dolphins, and porpoises.The book contains history on each species of certain, discusses evolution, food sources, current numbers, and much more easy to understand information. Beautiful and accurate illustrations!
