There are 3 short stories in the book. The first one was so hard to get into. That is usually not a problem for me with Thoene books, I always love their books. The last two in the book I really liked a lot. Worth reading.
The entire series is well-researched and well-written which is in keeping with Bodie's style. A most moving and enjoyable series depicting this forgotten era of American history. We all have heard about the gold rush but it overwhelms all other aspects of Western history unfortunately. Bodie's "Legends of the West" series tells the rest of the story.
When reading fiction, I thoroughly enjoy stories that do not contain gratuitous vulgar, violent or pornographic lifestyles. I avoid authors who depend on this style of writing to carry their work. I enjoy reading books authored by the Theones. These stories have a redemptive message and I enjoy the character development too.
Buying these books for my 13 year old son and he cannot put them down!! I hope to read them soon too. Excellent western books with good Christian messages and morality weaved throughout. These authors continue to put out some of the best books! Be sure to read their Zion Chronicles and Zion Covenant series too.
I love history and this family knows how to make characters come alive and put the reader right back into time.
Bodie Thorne is a wonderful writer of historical novels. This book tells wonderful stories of the old west.
Enjoyed reading the stories in this book
