Bill Peet is one of my favorite kids book authors. I read these as a kid, got them for my kids, nieces and nephews and have put away a set for for my grandchildren someday. The stories and characters are always well designed and draw kids in. The illustrations are bright and colorful while still being somewhat simplistic giving them a lovable cartoon appearance. The stories have great moral and life lessons told in a fun way. These stories have stood the test of time and have been loved by many in my family
I absolutely love Bill Peet and we have most of his books. I bought a second copy of Eli to have as a back up when our original got a little wet. Well the book we received from Amazon is completely out of order. There are pages missing, duplicates of pages. The story pages are not in the right order. I will be attempting to exchange this for a copy of Eli that has the correct pages and in the correct order. The pictures shown are the very first page in the book and then the 10th page in the book, and if you’ve read the story know that this is completely incorrect.
These books are my daughters favorites, she loves everything from Bill Peet. They never disappoint.
Bill Peet is a wonderful author and illustrator. His stories and illustrations are HILARIOUS.The easy to follow, relatable plots with nice, neat endings are perfect for the younger set. And they all have a message that parents can discuss with their kids.Eli is a sweet (but always funny) story about an unorthodox way of making and being a friend.I had a copy of Cyrus when I was a kid and loved it. Wish I'd known there were more.
Bill Peet books have been entertaining us, our children, and our grandchildren for years! I love the narrative, whether it's rhyming or not. The illustrations are excellent and the stories are addicting! Love them!

I have taught for 44 years from 1 to 9th grade and have used Bill Peet's books in every grade. They are also great for storytelling.
Bought this for my baby when I was pregnant with him because I was naming him... Eli. Great story. Especially since his daddy is from Africa.
