Easy to read instruction. Nice illustrations. Some great sushi ideas with easy to follow instructions. Though my creations are not up to the authors style, I keep trying. A fun book to have.

My daughter in Law wanted Sushi stuff for xmas. I came across this book and got it for them since they are new to making their own Sushi. They love the book. Have tried many of the different recipes and told me this is one of her favorite xmas presents. I took a look at it and wrote down a few of the recipes I liked and have tried those as well and my husband and I am very pleased with the ingredients, understanding of how the recipes are presented, along with very nice photos, clear instructions and alot of choices. Very nice book and very happy with our decision to choose this one as a gift and also for some additions to my own recipe library. Thank you.

Book illustrates making sushi simply and without too much mess (aside from the sticky rice). Get a bamboo mat for rolling the Nori seaweed and rice into a roll and use fish or veggies. They have some very beautiful photos of food, very artistic. This is a good place to start learning Japanese cuisine. I don't eat the shellfish that is often used in store made sushi or even in this book but you can pick ingredients you can eat. Make sure to have a nice sharp knife and practice low pressure slicing to not squash the rice roll.

I am not so naive as to think that everything that I need to know about making sushi could be contained in one book. I coupled the contents of this book, Youtube videos, and Google searches to gain basic sushi making skills. Everyone does it a little different and has different advice that I had to manage to make some amazing sushi, sashimi, and nigiri. I did not end up using any recipe from this book but I did find some of her advice and the photos helpful.

I buy a lot of cook books and instructional books through Amazon. This one is one of my top rated. It really is what the title indicates.I have done a lot of Asian cooking over the last few years. But most of it has focused on stir fry, soups, noodles, and fried things. I finally got around to wanting to learn about Sushi. And to be perfectly honest here, I was pretty much a Sushi virgin. I've eaten it a few times over the last 10 years, but never attempted to make it in any way. So after a little research on the net, I decided to get something a little more complete, that would start off with the basics and cover all the important stuff. Well... this book is indeed it. After reading the first few sections, visiting a local Asian grocery store, and purchasing a Sushiquik on Amazon... I tackled the job. Strangely enough, everything came out great. Not liking anything about the concept of eating raw fish, I opted for the pre-cooked fake crab and some pre-cooked shrimp. In any case, as stated before, everything was excellent.Back on topic, it's a great book with a lot of good info in it. A great place to start.

Was disappointed to see the odd collection of sushi recipes, was hoping the most common rolls would be included. Purchasing another book for my next time making sushi.

This is a great starter sushi guide! There are SOO many pictures, including step by step rolling instructions, it really makes it almost impossible to mess up!The only reason that I gave it 4 (and not 5) stars is that I wish it had a few more sushi roll recipes and ideas. A lot of the recipes are all very similar, or the same item with only one or so ingredient differences.This probably wont be a cook book that I keep around forever, but while I'm learning the basics it is a great go to!

World Class tells the story of how NYU Langone evolved from a venerable institution on the decline due to financial challenges to one of the best in the country. This remarkable transformation was primarily due to a dynamic CEO who focused on safety, quality and being patient-centered before these concepts were widely recognized and appreciated. The book is well written in a clear and direct style. There are many pragmatic examples that I found beneficial, such as how to formulate a road map. I particularly liked the speech in the appendix. Overall, I highly recommend it as blueprint for anyone interested in health care leadership or for understanding what it takes to achieve excellence in health care. Not every institution can be world class, but all can improve if they follow the example of NYU Langone.

Amazing book!

In less than ten years, NYU Langone Health was transformed from one of the worst to one of the best healthcare centers in the world in terms of patient care, research, and teaching. William Hazeltine tells that story for the first time. He had no prior relationship with NYU or NYU Langone Health other than becoming a patient (treated for head and neck cancer) while researching the book.He interviewed almost everyone centrally involved in the transformation from 2007 until 2017. There are four persons of special significance: Kenneth Langone (Vice Chair, NYU Board and Chair, NYU Langone Health; Martin Lipman (Chair Emeritus, NYU, and Trustee, NYU Langone Health); John Sexton (President Emeritus, NYU, 2002-2015); Robert Berne (NYU Professor of Public Policy, XVP for Health); and Robert Grossman (MD, Saul J. Farber Dean and CEO ofÂ NYU Langone Health, 2007-present).Hazeltine shares what he considers the most valuable to be learned from NYU Langone Health's transformation. Each is thoroughly discussed within the narrative, in context. This book was a mix of history, management, and medicine. While I sometimes got bogged down by all the names that were coming at me, this was a worthwhile read. The pacing was pretty good; Haseltine didn't spend too long on any one particular topic. The discussion of the IT changes and the physical changes they made were fascinating.I enjoyed, in particular, the chapters talking about their additional hospitals that they've acquired (or however they described it). The discussion of how the insurance-mix of patient populations affects the hospitals and how that can strengthen and weaken "safety net" hospitals was interesting.Overall, I recommend reading this if you're interested in a management profile, hospitals or healthcare of the future, or a feel-good business story.

Lindstrom covers everything--nutrition, holidays, pediatricians, birthday parties, vegan children's films, and much more. His tone is like a very funny, sane, down-to-earth friend who's been there. The book reads easily and quickly (crucial for new parents) while packing in a lot of helpful info. After months of culling vegan parenting tips from blogs and random sites, it's great to have such a concise and well-researched resource.

I was looking for a book on specifics about the vegan child's diet. I am a vegan for both health and for animal welfare. I was raised on the standard american diet. We are currently living in an area where it seems veganism is looked at as a hippy health fad. No local pediatrician can offer information on how to raise a child vegan. I was told to give her cows milk and meat. I had high hopes this would give insight on how to ensure a child is getting everything they need for brain development and nutrients. This book has a lot of information on why to become a vegan. I already am a vegan I don't need to know why to become one. It gave, in my opinion, bad information on how to handle social situations. It also said to vaccinate even though it isn't vegan. I didn't see why the author's viewpoint on vaccinations was put into the book, when he didn't make non-vegan exceptions for anything else. If you are a nonvegan parent looking to transition your household to veganism, this might be a book for you. To any current vegan, I would not recommend.

If I could give this 0 stars I would. Absolutely absurd! Book is touted as a guide to raise â€œhealthyâ€ children. Itâ€™s a manual on how to replace mainstream junk food with vegan junk food. Seriously, almond milk over fruity pebbles cereal (page 5)??? Quinoa milk with Hersheyâ€™s chocolate syrup (page 6)? I was looking for recipes,,,ok,,,how about vegan Mac n cheese with crushed potato chips on top (p 170)? A few of the recipes call for â€œvegan rainbow sprinklesâ€ on top. Thereâ€™s even a recipe for â€œvegan jello from a box.â€ Oh, lest I forget, a small section on air fryingâ€”vegan donut holes, grilled cheese sandwiches, tofu nuggets, chimichangas, vegan corn dogs, even air fried cookies. Just trash,,,,junk food,,,Incase you didnâ€™t already know this, you too can get highly processed boxed and packaged vegan mac n cheese, pizza, corn dogs, donuts, jello and cupcakes at the grocery store! I didnâ€™t need a book to tell me how to be a popcorn- potatoes chip-chocolate chip cookie -vegan. So disappointed! Donâ€™t buy this book. Get your kids in the car, go to a farm, play in the fresh air and sunshine, see some bugs, get your hands in the soil, bring home some veggies with dirt still on them and make some real food!

I should know. I wrote it! But seriously, I've heard great things from others who have read this (but haven't left a review).

This book is awesome. According to the Vegan Society, all veganism asks from us is that we do what what we can to avoid consuming animal products within the limitations of what is possible and practical. This book does not pretend to deliver a whole-food, plant-based vegan reference guide, but a guide to raising children to be vegan within what is practical and possible. So grateful that something like this has been written.
